Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account: email, username, display name, password (stored only as a secure hash), and date of birth (used to verify you are 18+, not shown publicly).
• Profile & content: your bio, avatar, posts, replies, reactions, voice notes, images and videos, Connect profile details, and check-in / mood entries you choose to log.
• Connections & messages: matches, direct messages, and voice/video call metadata (who and when - we do not record call audio or video).
• Usage & device: pages and features you use, approximate device/browser (from your user-agent), and a coarse sign-in location derived from your IP (city / country level only; we do not store your full IP).
• Payments: if you subscribe, our payment processors (Paystack, and Apple or Google for in-app purchases) handle your card/payment details. We store only a record of the transaction and, for card payments, a masked snapshot (brand and last 4 digits) - never full card numbers.
• Notifications: device push tokens so we can send the alerts you enable.

2. How we use your information

• To provide and personalise SOULUV - your feed, Circles, matches, and recommendations.
• To keep the community safe - AI content screening, human moderation, and surfacing crisis resources when distress is detected.
• To operate accounts, process subscriptions, and send service and (optional) marketing email.
• To secure the service, detect abuse, and meet legal obligations.

3. Anonymous posting

When you post anonymously, your name and avatar are hidden from other members. We still associate the post with your account internally so we can enforce our rules and respond to reports - anonymity protects you from other users, not from safety moderation.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who run parts of SOULUV under contract - for example Cloudflare (media storage and delivery), Paystack / Apple / Google (payments), and our email provider for transactional and account email.
• Other members, but only the information you choose to make visible (your profile, your non-anonymous posts, your Connect details once you match).
• Authorities, where we are legally required to, or to prevent imminent harm.

5. Security

Passwords are hashed, sensitive fields are encrypted, and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit what we keep in the first place (for example, masking IPs and card details).

6. Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or de-identify your personal data, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Your rights

You can access and edit most of your information in the app, and you can delete your account at any time from Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it - contact us and we'll help.

8. Children

SOULUV is strictly for adults 18 and older. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will remove it.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
